Misty Galactic is the pseudonym of Dundee/Edinburgh singer songwriter Sophie Craik.

Part sixties siren, part space princess, Misty Galactic sings wistful, dark, and melancholy dream pop indie songs.

Misty Galactic is back, this time with her most meaningful lyrics yet in new single The Worst, out today, Thursday 16 July 2020.

The Worst paints a dark picture of toxic love, exploring elements of Misty’s past as well as her relationship with her own mental health as she explains:

My head is a scary place to be sometimes, and it doesn’t always play well with others, I guess this is the story of one of the darker relationships I’ve been in, but it’s also about the way my mind works, that urge to push people away, then begging them to stay. Sometimes, I’ve felt like I’m cursed and fated when it comes to other people.

The Worst is Misty Galactic’s third single of 2020 following Issues and Lucifer and shows the rich vein of talent that she is tapping into as this is another brilliant track.

The track has an ethereal vibe created by the keys and drums which give the song a dreamy melody, with the occasional chiming guitar which adds to the feel of the track.

Misty Galactic produces a beguiling vocal, it’s got an element of smoky 60’s nightclub diva delivered in a contemporary manner.

Again Misty is not afraid to sing about the darker side of past relationships and her own mental health struggles and her urge to push away people, this is described perfectly in the lines “but I’m afraid that your going to leave, I’m so anxious I can’t breathe, so I leave you first told you that I’m the worst”.

The Worst is another brilliant track, it delivers dark atmospheric electro pop that is beautifully produced and complemented by the haunting lilt of Misty’s vocal which really brings the songs emotional subject matter to life.

Despite the difficult musical climate of 2020, Misty Galactic is blossoming into a true performer and certainly one to watch as we gradually return to normality.
