Slam vs Obscure Shape & SHDW - The Oblique Strategies EP
Soma present a special collaboration between label heads Slam and another of Techno’s top tier duos, Obscure Shape & SHDW.
Slam (aka Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle) are a tour de force on the global techno circuit. Their unique, six deck, back-to-back DJ performances have seen the duo play leading clubs and festivals across the world. They are renowned for both their experience and their powerful, contemporary sound.
They are co-owners of Glasgow's Riverside Festival, and also host the legendary Maximum Pressure warehouse parties, which showcase the best emerging local talent alongside some of the most established names in international techno.
Their iconic Soma Records label boasts in excess of six hundred releases, hosting McMillan and Meikle's own productions and many of today's most cutting-edge techno artists.
Hailing from Stuttgart, Marco Bläsi and Luigi Urban together make up the DJ and production team SHDW & Obscure Shape.
These two relatively young newcomers have in very short time managed to build up a large and loyal following that continuously keeps growing with each year since their start in 2014.
Together they run the label From Another Mind that came into existence in 2015 from the party they started one year earlier. Marco (aka SHDW) and Luigi (aka Obscure Shape) decided upon the From Another Mind name when they realised they had a different idea of how they wanted to program a party, and then later on the label.

Not too many duos have collaborated before. So when choosing another duo to work with it had to be with our friend's Obscure Shape & SHDW. We have both had mutual respect for each others productions for quite some time now, and we thought it would be an interesting slant on things to go head to head duo to duo.
With both of these acts currently at peak form, Oblique Strategies is the culmination of a shared vision where both styles of production shine through on every track. Starting as a singular idea, shared between the pairings, each then took their turn to put their own stamp on the tracks. The results are plain to see as Strategy 1, 2 and 3 express the very best of what these renowned duos bring to Techno.
