Blossoms - Foolish Loving Spaces
The Stockport band have built up a great following and are festival go to guys to fill those spaces just below the main headliner. They now bring us their third album Foolish Loving Spaces and it is a fresh twist on their Indie pop that makes them the feel good guys of that genre.
The opening track If You Think This is Real Life is a great start to the album, its synth led, with sharp drums and a belting chorus, very much sounding like it has been influenced by Talking Heads.
The lead single Your Girlfriend changes tempo and Is more an indicator of how the album will progress, with its upbeat guitar sound. There is a more funk element to The Keeper.
My Swimming Brain has a real summery disco feel and will go down well in the festival season.
The big hook moment of the album comes with Sunday Was a Friend of Mine, the middle of the album sits Oh No (I Think I’m In Love) and Romance, Eh? are both definite songs of love and are very charming in their delivery.
My Vacant Days is a well written piano driven song and Falling for Someone is song about unrequited love judging by its lyrics.
The album is brought to a close by Like Gravity which is a fabulous electro -rock number and rounds off a very entertaining set of songs, which will ensure Blossoms remain very much at the forefront of the Indie scene.
